About BPI
BPI, also known as the British Phonographic Industry, is the representative body for the recorded music industry in the UK. With over 500 record labels and associate members, including major players like Universal Music UK, Sony Music Entertainment UK, and Warner Music UK, the BPI accounts for 85% of all music sold in the country. British artists are responsible for one in eight albums purchased worldwide, making the UK music industry one of the most thriving and exciting sectors globally.
As a trade body, the BPI champions the interests of its members and organizes prestigious events such as The BRIT Awards with Mastercard, The Mercury Prize with FREE NOW, and the Classic BRIT Awards. These shows not only celebrate the biggest successes in music but also serve as platforms to promote new talent. Substantial proceeds from these events go to The BRIT Trust, which has donated over £28 million to charitable causes since its establishment in 1989.
In addition to these cultural contributions, the BPI co-owns The Official Charts, the UK's industry standard for music and video charts and sales data. The BPI is also involved in initiatives like the Parental Guidance Scheme and the Get It Right campaign, fostering responsible and legal consumption of music. Join the BPI to support the thriving UK music industry and gain access to exclusive benefits and opportunities
