About Bradgate Park
The Bradgate Park Trust is an educational and heritage charity responsible for caring for Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood in Leicestershire. Established by Charles Bennion after he purchased the estate for public enjoyment in 1928, the Trust works to protect these much-loved landscapes and share their natural, historical and cultural heritage. Bradgate Park spans more than 830 acres and is known for its medieval deer park, historic ruins, wildlife and connection to Lady Jane Grey.
Nearby Swithland Wood is 170 acres of ancient woodland, designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Together, the sites offer opportunities to explore, learn and enjoy the outdoors. The Trust provides visitor facilities including a free-entry heritage centre and shop, tearooms, guided group tours, talks, wellbeing walks and events.
Its educational programme supports school visits, self-led learning and young rangers. Visitors can also book workshops, meeting-room hire and other experiences. The charity welcomes donations, volunteers and business support to help sustain its work and care for the estate
