Brattåsstiftelsen

Brattåsstiftelsen is a Swedish foundation dedicated to promoting and supporting forest science research. Its primary focus is on questions relevant to private forestry and other forms of forestry outside large-scale industrial operations. The foundation particularly favors research into forest economics and business economics, including comparisons between northern and southern regions and between different soil productivity levels and locations. An additional donation also enables support for environmentally focused forest research.

Brattåsstiftelsen awards research grants, normally inviting applications once a year. Projects may receive funding for up to four years, and the foundation publishes information about application opportunities and funded work. Recent projects include mapping and modelling birch timber properties and quality in northern Sweden, surveying shoot blight infections in young pine stands, and studying links between forest fertilization, tree growth and bark beetle infestations amid climate change. The foundation also shares news about its grants and forest research activities, including seminars and recorded presentations.
