Brave Like McKenna

Brave Like McKenna is a foundation created in honor of McKenna Royer, who died from diffuse midline glioma (DMG), a rare and aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer, in February 2024. The organization supports children and families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis while working to advance pediatric cancer research. Its mission is to raise awareness, help address gaps in research funding, and respond to the needs of affected families.

Families with a child aged 0 to 20 who has been diagnosed with cancer can apply for financial assistance. The foundation also shares educational resources, including information about pediatric cancer and DIPG/DMG, and provides a request-for-assistance process. Supporters can donate, shop the organization’s wishlist or merchandise, subscribe to its email updates, and take part in fundraising and awareness events. These include the annual Glow Walk, a golf tournament, and Giving Tuesday activities. Through community involvement and fundraising, Brave Like McKenna aims to help families navigate the challenges of pediatric cancer and contribute to the fight for better research and support.
