About BRCAinBC🧬 BRCA Awareness and Education Society
BRCAinBC is a dedicated group that aims to raise awareness about the risks associated with the BRCA gene and provide genetic testing options specifically for the Jewish community in British Columbia. Our goal is to educate, reduce fears, and improve access to testing, empowering carriers to protect themselves. We understand that the risks of carrying the BRCA genes extend to both men and women, and we strive to serve the entire community.
Founded by Jane and Catriona Remocker, in honor of the late Dr. Geoffrey Remocker, our group consists of passionate community members, medical professionals, researchers, and experts in genetic cancers. We are supported by various generous organizations and individuals, including BC Cancer’s Hereditary Cancer Program and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver.
Our initiative aims to increase awareness among community members and healthcare professionals, provide education on genetic testing options, and support improvements in access to testing. We prioritize gender equality and work towards destigmatizing BRCA for male carriers in our community. Join us in our mission to empower individuals with knowledge and protect BRCA carriers
