About Bretagne Vivante
Bretagne Vivante is an organization dedicated to promoting and protecting nature in the Bretagne region of France. As a voice for nature, they carry out various missions and have strategic focuses on Agriculture & Biodiversity, Mer & Littoral, Trames et corridors écologiques, Education et formation, and Réservoirs de biodiversité. One of their notable initiatives is the Station de baguage de Trunvel, located in the heart of the marshes of the Audierne Bay in southern Finistère.
Managed by Bretagne Vivante since 1988, this station attracts ornithologists, ringers, and curious nature enthusiasts who come to observe the migration of birds. Open for four months a year, from July to the end of October, the bird ringing activity at Trunvel provides valuable information on species distribution, population fluctuations, lifespan, reproduction, and causes of mortality. In 2022, the station achieved a record diversity of bird species, with 71 different species (including 2 new ones) captured.
The annual report highlights the positive and significant trends in certain bird species, while also addressing the negative trends in others. The findings indicate stable capture rates over the years, leading to a better understanding of bird populations and their conservation. Bretagne Vivante expresses gratitude to their partners for their financial and technical support in carrying out these important conservation efforts
