BrickHouse Books is an independent Baltimore nonprofit literary press and 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1970 and described as Maryland’s oldest literary press. With a commitment to “the love of words,” it publishes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, bringing distinctive books and overlooked voices to readers in Baltimore and beyond. Its catalog includes works such as Radegonde and the First Crusade, historical fiction by Lauren Small, and InConceivable, a memoir by Shira Pisner Kundinger. The organization also offers a bookshop, author and publishing news, a newsletter, and a submissions channel for writers.
Alongside print publishing, BrickHouse Books develops BrickHouse Digitals, a growing collection of tools, games, and experiences for curious readers. These include LikeWander, a recommendation engine that helps users find books, movies, games, and more based on their tastes; BrickHouse Baller, a brick-breaking game with literary quizzes; and descrambleTHIS, a word-order puzzle featuring surprising facts. Annual paid membership costs $100 and includes all three digital products, a 25% shop discount, and free standard U.S. shipping.
