This non-governmental organization operates on an international scale and focuses on the broad areas of health and rights, intersecting disciplines such as medicine, law, and criminology. Founded by a medical doctor specializing in dermatology and venereology with vast experience working with migrants, and a criminologist focusing on sexual and gender-based violence in migration and displacement, Bridges2health&rights places its emphasis on research, training, and raising awareness.

Their mission revolves around recognizing the deep interconnectedness between health and rights. They strive to increase knowledge about these intersections and address the barriers to health and rights faced by different members of society, particularly in regards to skin and sexual health, and sexual and gender-based violence. By conducting evidence-based research and disseminating it to professionals, community leaders, and policy-makers, they aim to reduce vulnerabilities, dismantle social barriers, and bridge gaps that impede individuals from enjoying unfettered access to health, justice, and rights.

Their values include a holistic understanding of health, encompassing physical, emotional, mental, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being. They also reject tokenism and genuinely engage and include people and communities at various stages of their work. The organization is co-founded by two remarkable individuals. Dr. Valeska Padovese, a medical doctor specializing in dermatology and venereology, boasts an impressive career spanning experiences in Italy, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and Lampedusa, providing crucial medical care to refugees and migrants. Currently serving as a consultant at the Genito-Urinary Clinic in Malta, Dr. Padovese's expertise and contributions are widely recognized.

Isotta Rossoni, a criminologist specializing in sexual and gender-based violence in migration and displacement, holds degrees from prestigious institutions such as the University of Oxford and Queen Mary University of London. Currently pursuing a PhD at Leiden Law School, she has worked extensively with international NGOs and is a consultant for UN Women and the Council of Europe.
