About Brigade
Brigade is an archived Cloud Native Computing Foundation project that provides a platform for running scriptable, event-driven tasks in the cloud. Designed for use within Kubernetes clusters, it lets teams define event handlers in JavaScript or TypeScript and run work in containers. Example uses include running unit tests after GitHub pushes, updating databases, responding to Slack messages, and sharing workspaces between jobs.
Brigade connects with services such as GitHub, Docker Hub, Bitbucket, and Slack through gateways, and supports custom gateway development with official SDKs. Its container-based jobs can be chained into processing pipelines, drawing on the range of available Docker images. Brigade v2 also includes authorization and authentication management, persistent logs, and a message queue designed to support high event volumes while distributing resources fairly among projects.
The project was built to be installed and maintained by teams without requiring them to interact directly with Kubernetes. Its documentation, code, and community resources provide further information, though the project is archived.
