About Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is Europe's largest free annual hot air balloon festival, attracting over 100 hot air balloons and 500,000 spectators. Originating from a small gathering in 1979, the Fiesta has grown into an iconic event for the city of Bristol. The festival takes place at Ashton Court Estate and features twice daily mass ascents, with balloons taking off from a dedicated arena.
Ballooning is weather-dependent, adding an element of excitement and anticipation. In addition to the breathtaking balloon displays, visitors can meet pilots and their crews, explore the estate, and enjoy entertainment and activities for all ages. The Fiesta is run by a not-for-profit organization and remains free to the public, aligning with its founding ethos.
