The British Astronomical Association (BAA), founded in 1890, is a vibrant community dedicated to supporting amateur astronomers and fostering scientific observation. With a mission to push the boundaries of our understanding of the Universe, the BAA encourages members to make valuable contributions using a range of techniques, from basic naked-eye observations to advanced spectroscopic studies.

Members can participate in various observing sections, gain access to extensive resources such as online tutorials, handbooks, and a bi-monthly journal, and share their experiences on the BAA Forum. The Association also offers events throughout the year—including workshops and meetings—promoting collaboration among a diverse group of enthusiasts.

From meteor observation to variable star studies, the BAA cultivates an inclusive environment where both novices and experienced astronomers can thrive. Join the BAA today to engage with fellow astronomy lovers, develop your skills, and contribute to meaningful research in the field.
