About British Normandy Memorial
The British Normandy Memorial stands as a solemn tribute to the 22,442 British servicemen and women who lost their lives during the D-Day landings and the subsequent Battle of Normandy in 1944. Officially opened on June 6, 2021, by His Majesty The King, this serene memorial offers a reflective space for remembrance against a backdrop overlooking Gold Beach. The site includes a French Memorial honoring the civilians lost in the conflict, encompassing narratives of over 30 nations.
Visitors can explore the memorial year-round and engage with educational resources like the D-Day 80 education pack, created in collaboration with British Council and GCHQ. The accompanying Winston Churchill Centre features a café and shop, offering exclusive items such as the Always Remembered book and limited edition plush toys. The Trust also invites public support through sponsorship of tribute plaques and regular donations to ensure the ongoing maintenance and legacy of this important site of remembrance
