Britten Sinfonia is a professional chamber orchestra based in Cambridge and described as one of Europe’s leading chamber orchestras and the only professional orchestra working throughout the East of England. As a registered charity, it brings live classical music to audiences across the region and London through performances, community activity and educational projects. Its work combines adventurous programming with innovative concert formats designed to make music engaging and accessible.
One example is Surround Sound Playlist, an immersive concert experience presented on tour at venues including Canterbury and Ely cathedrals, as well as Norwich, Peterborough and Lincoln. The orchestra also creates projects for school pupils, hospital patients and local communities, including opportunities for young people to make music and live performances for patients. Its programme includes public concerts and composer showcases, alongside residencies and other regionally focused activities.
Britten Sinfonia shares news, event information and tailored concert updates through its newsletter, and invites individuals and institutions to support its charitable work through donations and membership
