About Broadband Commission
The Broadband Commission | Geneva, also known as the ITU/UNESCO Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, has been advocating for universal broadband connectivity since 2010. As a global organization, they put universal broadband connectivity at the forefront of policy discussions, aiming to accelerate progress towards achieving the UN 2030 Agenda and their own 7 Advocacy Targets. They have over 50 members who engage in high-level advocacy to promote broadband in developing countries and underserved communities.
The Commission works to build partnerships between the public and private sector, government, civil society, and international organizations. Through their working groups, they address broadband access, affordability, and use, while publishing annual policy recommendations critical to realizing universal connectivity. Their recent reports focus on areas such as smartphone access, AI capacity building, and harnessing data for education.
