About Center for Brooklyn History
Welcome to the Center for Brooklyn History (CBH), where you can explore our extensive online resources, including collections, programming, and education resources. Currently, we are open for research in the Othmer Library by appointment only. Our special collections and archives are accessible both in person and online, so you can easily delve into Brooklyn's rich history.
CBH is the result of the merger between Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) and the Brooklyn Public Library, combining over 157 years of collected materials to create the most comprehensive catalog of Brooklyn history in the world. Our mission is to democratize access to Brooklyn's history, expand representation, and broaden reach. Located at 128 Pierrepont Street, our facility will reopen to the public on September 14, 2023, with free admission.
