Brought To Reality (BTR) is a nonprofit mental health clothing brand and 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2016 by Nick Bales, a Colorado high school student who wanted to raise awareness of teen mental health, challenge stigma, and encourage compassion. Created in Nickβs memory, the organization supports young people experiencing mental health challenges and works to prevent teen suicide. BTR takes an individualized, nontraditional approach, recognizing that support needs differ from person to person.
The organization directs purchases and donations toward therapy and other support for young people, including financial assistance for those facing barriers to care. Its website reports that BTR has funded more than 2,858 therapy sessions and invested $247,710 in youth. The site also offers resources on risk factors, talk therapy, alternative therapies, and horse therapy, alongside an application for financial assistance.
BTR sells T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, accessories, and e-gift cards. It also runs the Nick Bales/BTR Scholarship and engages student and professional athletes in promoting its mission.
