Browder's Birds is a brand based in Mattituck, NY, that specializes in sustainable farming. Inspired by the pastured livestock model promoted by Farmer Joel Salatin at Polyface Farms, the Browder family embarked on a journey to bring organic produce and livestock directly to local customers. Starting with no agricultural experience, Chris Browder became an apprentice at Garden of Eve Organic Farm, where he raised, processed, and sold broiler chickens on pasture.
Their dedication paid off, and in 2010, Browder's Birds officially launched with a lease from the Peconic Land Trust for a 5-acre parcel of preserved farmland in Southold. Today, they have grown to include laying hens, ducks, turkeys, and a flock of sheep on their 16-acre farm in Mattituck. With a licensed, mobile facility, they process their poultry on-farm and offer a range of Certified Organic products.
You can find their farmstand open every weekend, and they sell nearly everything they raise on the East End. The Browders' passion for sustainable farming has made them a cherished part of the local community
