Bangladesh Rural Primary Health Initiative (BRPHI) is a not-for-profit charity established by a group of British Bangladeshi doctors. Registered with the Charity Commission, it works to improve access to primary health care in rural Bangladesh, with a focus on free care for people who are poor or in need.

BRPHI is establishing permanent village surgeries known as GramGP clinics, designed around the British NHS general-practice model. Its approach centres on building a sustainable, locally rooted network of clinics that can grow organically within villages and become financially self-sufficient. Each GramGP is intended to be paired with an NHS GP through the organisation’s GP Twinning initiative.

The charity also aims to create a national platform where other organisations can join and operate clinics with similar objectives. By connecting individual surgeries into a wider system, BRPHI seeks to extend access to primary care across rural communities. Its work brings together clinic development, professional connections and a collaborative platform, with the broader goal of providing quality health care for all while offering free services to those who need them most.
