Bruce County Genealogical Society

The Bruce County Genealogical Society helps people explore family histories and preserve the stories of ancestors connected to Bruce County, Ontario. Its mandate is to keep local ancestors’ lives remembered and support researchers in discovering more about their families. Whether beginning a family tree or investigating a particular branch, visitors can start with the society’s research collection, the Audrey Webster Underwood Collection, housed at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton. The museum also houses the Bruce County Archives, which is open during museum hours.

The society provides research resources including library and archive information, research and query request options, cemetery and newspaper materials, county maps, local history, and township information. Members and prospective members can take part in meetings, webinars, workshops, and other events focused on genealogy and Bruce County history. The society also shares newsletters and links to further resources. Through its membership, volunteer involvement, educational programs, and access to local historical materials, the Bruce County Genealogical Society connects researchers with the records and knowledge that can help bring family histories to life.
