The Bruno Cetto Mycological Group of Venice-Mestre is an Italian association dedicated to mycology and environmental awareness. Founded on 22 March 1976 by 32 enthusiasts on the initiative of G.G. Ferrarese, a student of Bruno Cetto, the group brings together people interested in learning about fungi and their natural surroundings. Its purpose goes beyond collecting mushrooms: it uses mycology to encourage greater understanding of, and care for, the natural environment.
The group’s activities include courses, lectures on fungi, public exhibitions and scientific gatherings. Its Scientific Committee, established in 1980 and named after naturalist Pier Andrea Saccardo, identifies and classifies fungi collected by members, including rare specimens. The P. Gaggio Educational Section, opened in 2000, supports members who want to develop their mycological knowledge through practical field learning. The association also shares information through calendars, books, monographs, articles and species profiles. Based in Marghera, Venice, the Bruno Cetto Group offers a community and educational setting for people wishing to explore fungi and contribute to environmental awareness.
