Bruno S. Frey

Bruno Frey is an economist and Permanent Visiting Professor at the University of Basel whose work explores how economics can benefit from ideas in political science, psychology, and sociology. His academic career has included professorships at the Universities of Konstanz and Zurich, Warwick Business School, and Zeppelin University. He is Research Director of CREMA, the Center for Research in Economics, Management and the Arts, and co-founder of CREW, the Center for Research in Economics and Well-Being at the University of Basel.

Frey’s research spans political economics, democracy and federalism, decision-making under uncertainty, motivation and crowding effects, happiness, corporate governance, management, and the economics of art and culture. His work also considers new approaches to organizational leadership and governance, including rotating CEOs and focused random selection.
