Bebés de S. João is a Portuguese association supporting mothers and their babies through pregnancy, hospital stays and the months and years that follow. Working in connection with the São João hospital community, the association helps families facing vulnerability with practical assistance and compassionate, non-judgmental support. Its services include essential items such as nappies, hygiene products, clothing, bedding, prams and other baby equipment, alongside emotional support, listening and guidance. The association also offers activities and initiatives that help strengthen parenting skills and accompany mothers and children during the early years of a child’s life.

Bebés de S. João invites the public to contribute through donations of money or goods, volunteering and fundraising campaigns. Its online donation shop lets supporters fund specific items for a baby’s layette, including cloth nappies, a shawl, toys and a complete carrycot. The association also publishes O Livro da Mãe, a poetic account of the emotions and experiences surrounding motherhood and childbirth, and shares activity reports, action plans, news and events with its community.
