About Between the Lines
Between the Lines (BTL) is a distinguished social movement press established in 1977, deeply rooted in activism and dedicated to advancing social justice. Located in Tkaronto, on the traditional territory of various Indigenous peoples, BTL publishes a wide array of non-fiction books that confront and challenge societal oppression. The press is committed to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, including Black, Indigenous, and racialized groups, women, and working-class individuals.
With contributions from a diverse range of authors—academics, journalists, artists, and activists—BTL's publications cover critical topics such as politics, public policy, social issues, and international development. Their goal is to spark political and social change through thought-provoking literature that offers new perspectives on pressing issues.
