About Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, BTMA
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) is the national trade organization representing Yarn & Fabric Manufacturers and Textile Product Processors mills in Bangladesh's private sector. Established in 1983, BTMA has played a vital role in the growth of the country's textile industry. With over 1,780 member mills, including 519 yarn manufacturing mills, 938 fabric manufacturing mills, and 323 dyeing-printing-finishing mills, BTMA has made a significant investment of more than 15 billion US dollars in the primary textile sector.
The textile industry is a major contributor to Bangladesh's economy, with over 13% of the GDP coming from this sector. Furthermore, over 84% of the country's export earning is generated from textiles and textile-related products. The primary textile sector fulfills 85-90% of the yarn demand for knit RMG and 35-40% of the yarn demand for woven RMG. It also meets the local fabric demand and provides employment for approximately 4.5 million people, of which 60% are female. Additionally, the industry generates a substantial client base for various economic activities.
