About Buchstabenmuseum
Buchstabenmuseum, located in Berlin, is the first museum in the world dedicated to collecting and showcasing typography from public spaces, celebrating its unique role in urban history. With a mission to preserve and document architectural letters and signs, the museum has captivated visitors for over 15 years, rescuing hundreds of typographic treasures from decay and destruction. The ongoing exhibition “Final Sale – vom Kaufhaus ins Museum” highlights iconic store signage from renowned German department stores that are disappearing from cityscapes, intertwining typographic history with urban culture.
In addition to its exhibitions, Buchstabenmuseum offers individual guided tours, workshops in neon art, and promotional materials, including a custom font inspired by its collection. The museum invites public involvement through membership programs and donations to support its educational efforts and rescue missions.
