DBU e.V.

The Deutsche Buddhistische Union e.V. (DBU) is the umbrella organization for Buddhists in Germany, bringing together Buddhist organizations from nearly all traditions as well as several thousand individual members. It works to preserve and develop Buddhism in Germany, encourage exchange among Buddhist communities, and foster dialogue with people of other faiths, social groups, and institutions. Through this work, the DBU aims to contribute constructively to society and help shape a shared future.

The union supports a broad range of activities and services. These include Buddhist pastoral care and training, educational materials, events, conferences, and opportunities for meditation, study, and community connection. Its working groups address topics such as interreligious dialogue, peace, ethics, environmental concerns, inclusion, and Buddhist practice across traditions. The DBU also provides information and member services, supports regional groups and individual members, and offers guidance, downloads, volunteer opportunities, and ways to donate. Its publications and online resources introduce Buddhist perspectives and report on current developments.
