Buddy Topdogtraining

Buddy Topdogtraining provides dog-assisted support for children and young people, generally aged 4 to 20, who need extra help with their development. Its approach includes a specially selected dog as a co-trainer or participant in the support process, helping clients work toward personal goals.

The organisation offers two main services. Buddy Topdogtraining is an individual, goal-oriented programme lasting approximately three months. It focuses on areas such as social skills and resilience. For children and young people who need more support than this short-term training can provide, the Buddy Topdog guidance programme offers longer-term assistance. This programme is tailored in consultation with the child and their family or wider support system.

Information is available for children in child-friendly language, and families can enquire or submit an enrolment form through the website. The service is led by Melissa Versluys, a Topdog trainer and behavioural scientist working with children under 12, and Stefan Schipper, a Topdog trainer for ages 12 and older and a teacher in specialised secondary education.
