**Budjak Fest** is a vibrant gastronomic ethno-festival celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Budjak region in southwestern Odesa, Ukraine. This festival brings together ten diverse villages, including populations of Bulgarians, Gagauz, Moldovans, Russians, and Ukrainians, who have preserved their culinary traditions while embracing intercultural exchanges.
In 2020, Budjak Fest transitioned to a virtual format, allowing attendees to explore regional specialties online through budjakfest.com. The festival showcases a unique tapestry of recipes and melodies that reflect the diverse influences gathered along the shores of Lake Yalpug. Local students, guided by teachers and researchers from Odesa, conduct extensive studies on the region's culinary heritage, resulting in a comprehensive review of Budjak's gastronomic legacy.
The inaugural physical festival is set to occur in August next year in Kotlovina, appealing to food lovers and culture enthusiasts alike. Budjak Fest is supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and USAID's Competitive Economy Program. Join us in celebrating the flavors and traditions that define this remarkable cultural landscape.
