Bujinkan Dojo Göteborg is a traditional martial arts association in Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in 1983. It teaches Bujinkan, a Japanese martial art developed by Masaaki Hatsumi and rooted in nine traditional schools, several of which date back to the 12th century. The training focuses on self-protection, personal development and understanding the techniques and principles of these schools; competition is not part of the practice.
The association offers classes for adults, young people aged 12 to 15, and children. Adult beginners start with foundational training in fitness, striking, kicking, blocks, grabs, throws, breakfalls and releases, with introductions to traditional weapons such as swords and staffs. More experienced students can attend themed sessions exploring particular schools, weapons or techniques. Youth classes adapt the adult curriculum to participants’ age and abilities, while also emphasizing etiquette, patience, discipline, self-control, respect and teamwork. Training is conducted with partners and adapted to different experience levels. The dojo is centrally located on Fabriksgatan in Gothenburg and provides a Japanese-inspired setting for practice.
