Bürgerbad

’t Eltense Bürgerbad 1993 e.V. is a community-run swimming association operating a small, accessible indoor pool in Elten, part of Emmerich am Rhein. Founded in 1993 following a local initiative to preserve the pool, the organization is sustained by volunteers and serves residents of all ages, with around 760 members. Its family-friendly, rehabilitation-suitable facility features a height-adjustable pool floor, an accessible entrance, and water maintained at approximately 32°C.

The association offers members scheduled free-swimming sessions and children’s swimming lessons for beginners through Bronze-level skills. Saturday lessons run in small groups for children aged about five and older, with each course lasting ten weeks. The pool also hosts school swimming and activities delivered by partner organizations, including aqua fitness, rehabilitation, and exercise classes through groups such as the Kneipp Association Elten and Rheuma League. Access is reserved for members, and membership is available to individuals and families at modest annual rates. The Bürgerbad’s mission is to keep swimming, learning, and health-oriented aquatic activities affordable and accessible to the local community.
