Founded in 2014 by Joe and Doug Coffland, who have extensive engineering experience, the company started working on the Buildbotics CNC controller in 2015. Joe Coffland, the creator of CAMotics and TPL, holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and has a strong background in simulation systems.

Doug Coffland, with a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, recently retired from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory after over 30 years of service, where he managed a significant workforce and earned five patents.
