Balneath Manor, historically part of St. Pancras Priory at Lewes, is at the center of a longstanding ownership dispute within the Goring family. Situated in Chailey Parish, East Sussex, this estate has a rich history dating back to the Dissolution.
The manor passed through various hands before being acquired by Sir William Goring in the 16th century, remaining in the family until the 19th century. Descendants George Goring and Sir Harry Goring found themselves in disagreement over the title following Sir William's passing. The East Sussex Record Office holds valuable documents shedding light on this dispute.
Exploring the Goring pedigree, the intricate family connections reveal the complexity of the inheritance claim. Discover the compelling narrative behind the Goring family feud over Balneath Manor on the Buist-Taylor-Keatch-Kendall family history website
