BUND NRW e.V.

The BUND groups in Germany’s Coesfeld district are local branches of the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland, an environmental organisation dedicated to protecting nature and keeping the planet habitable for people and wildlife. Through their groups in Lüdinghausen and Olfen, members and volunteers put these goals into practice with local conservation projects and public activities.

The groups maintain two traditional orchard meadows, grow old apple varieties and sell naturally cloudy juice made from orchard apples. Their work also includes mapping roadside habitats for the “Flowering Roadside Verges” project and creating features such as deadwood hedges to support biodiversity. Apple festivals and perennial plant exchanges bring residents together and offer opportunities to learn about environmental protection. The groups also take part in regional events, including activities at the Biological Centre in Lüdinghausen.

Residents can explore information on topics such as bats, pollinator-friendly gardens, apple pests and glyphosate, attend events, become members, donate or volunteer. The groups welcome interested residents, supporting members and active conservationists.
