About Bure Valley Railway
Bure Valley Railway is a heritage railway attraction in Norfolk, offering nostalgic steam train journeys between the historic market town of Aylsham and riverside Wroxham, a gateway to the Norfolk Broads. The route passes through scenic countryside alongside the River Bure, with meadowland, pastures and villages including Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall. Its 18-mile return journey takes around 45 minutes each way, and visitors can choose single, return or unlimited-travel Rover tickets.
The railway welcomes families, individuals, organised groups and dogs, with wheelchair access in carriages and stations and free parking at Aylsham and Wroxham. Visitors can enjoy seasonal events such as the Easter Eggspress, Festive Express and steam galas, as well as special experiences including locomotive driving, charters and cream tea journeys. Aylsham Station is home to the Whistlestop Café, serving lunches, cakes, hot drinks and afternoon teas, and a gift and model shop with railway models, souvenirs, collectables and sweets. Bure Valley Railway also shares railway news and offers volunteering opportunities.
