Burning Books

Burning Books is a radical bookstore located in Buffalo, NY, dedicated to fostering critical consciousness and supporting social justice movements. Established in September 2009, coinciding with the anniversary of the Attica prison uprising, the bookstore focuses on a curated selection of titles that tackle pressing issues such as race, environmentalism, feminism, and colonialism. Their inventory includes books for all age groups, from children to young adults, as well as various gift items like posters, games, and sustainable products, all promoting social justice.

Burning Books also hosts a speaker series featuring authors and activists who share insights on paths toward positive societal change. A proud partner and main distributor of the Certain Days Freedom for Political Prisoners calendar, they actively contribute to fundraising efforts supporting political prisoner advocacy in the U.S. Through their expansion project and community engagement initiatives, Burning Books exemplifies a commitment to empowering diverse voices and maintaining a space for sociopolitical intellectual ferment.
