About Burren Lowlands
The Burren Lowlands CLG is a dynamic brand that was established in 2015 with the aim of transforming the South Galway/North Clare region into a thriving community. Recognizing the impact of the 2008 economic downturn on the area, the brand took inspiration from a 2014 CEDRA report and set out to create a better place to live, work, and visit.
The brand focuses on three key pillars: Tourism, Enterprise, and Community. Through successful collaboration with government bodies, the EU, and private enterprises, they have secured inward investment to implement various projects. Moving forward, Burren Lowlands CLG aims to build upon the region's unique identity, picturesque landscape, and rich literary and cultural heritage to attract further investment.
Rural revival, community energy, engagement, and integrity are at the forefront of the brand's efforts. By working closely with local groups, Burren Lowlands CLG aims to support and value the diverse contributions of the community across the region.
The brand has already achieved notable milestones, such as the renovation of Market Square in Phase One and the expansion of Forge Works, their enterprise arm. Additionally, they are enhancing their online presence through a website overhaul, targeting global tourists and local 'stay-cationers' (post-Covid).
Burren Lowlands CLG actively collaborates with organizations such as Galway and Clare County Councils, as well as Fáilte Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. They welcome interested parties to explore the unique offerings of this exceptional region.
