Burrowing Owl

The Burrowing Owl Preservation Society (BOPS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting California’s burrowing owl population. It relies on volunteers, charitable contributions, and small grants to fund its conservation work, educational activities, and operating needs. Donations help the society expand its efforts and may be tax deductible; BOPS is identified on its website as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

BOPS uses contributions for practical expenses such as internet and mobile phone services, social media development, postage, and travel to deliver or attend educational presentations. Support also helps cover equipment rental for habitat improvements, including installing artificial burrows and managing vegetation. These activities reflect the organization’s focus on both public education and on-the-ground habitat support for burrowing owls in California.

People can donate through PayPal or send a check payable to BOPS at its Woodland, California mailing address. By contributing, supporters help sustain the society’s operations and increase its capacity to assist the state’s burrowing owl population.
