About Burung Indonesia
Burung Indonesia, also known as the Indonesian Bird Association, is a membership-based conservation organization. Established on July 15, 2002, their mission is to preserve the diverse bird species found in Indonesia. With a commitment to conservation, they strive to protect the habitats and promote the sustainable use of natural resources for the well-being of both birds and biodiversity.
Indonesia is home to an incredible variety of bird species, with a staggering 1,826 species recorded as of early 2023. Burung Indonesia provides an extensive range of information about these birds, including a comprehensive list of species, endemic species, and endangered species. Through their various programs, such as Flores, Gorontalo, Hutan Harapan, Jawa, Sumba, Wallacea, Banggai, and Halmahera Sangihe, Burung Indonesia actively engages in conservation efforts across the country.
They also publish articles, press releases, and annual reports to raise awareness about the importance of bird conservation. By joining Burung Indonesia, individuals can actively contribute to bird and habitat conservation. With merchandise available at BurungShop Reformed and Hijaw_Studio, supporters can also help fund their initiatives by purchasing field guides, t-shirts, and other merchandise.
Through their dedicated work, Burung Indonesia plays a crucial role in preserving Indonesia's rich avian biodiversity and protecting the natural habitats that these beautiful creatures call home
