About BUZIGAHILL
BUZIGAHILL is an impact-driven clothing brand that aims to revive Uganda's textile industry to its former glory. Named after a neighborhood in Kampala, BUZIGAHILL is committed to bringing back the peak levels of the textile industry in the 1970s when cotton processing exceeded exportation. At the forefront of BUZIGAHILL's endeavors is their first project series called RETURN TO SENDER.
Through this initiative, the brand redesigns second-hand clothing and redistributes it to the global North, where it was originally discarded before being shipped to Africa. In addition to RETURN TO SENDER, BUZIGAHILL collaborates with visual artists, fashion designers, second-hand market vendors, and artisanal workshops in Uganda. Together, they add value to local supply chains and foster the development of creative industries.
The brand recognizes the challenges faced by Uganda's textile industry due to market liberalization and globalization. With only two remaining textile mills in the country, local designers rely on imported textiles or upcycle materials from second-hand clothes. BUZIGAHILL aims to address these issues and contribute to a national textile and clothing movement.
By transforming second-hand garments and providing unique designs, BUZIGAHILL offers a sustainable and socially responsible alternative to the dominance of second-hand clothing in Uganda
