Bulkley Valley Research Centre (BVRC) is an independent, not-for-profit society dedicated to conducting high-quality, interdisciplinary research on natural and cultural resources. Our mission is to provide the science required for sustainable resource management. We offer a wide range of products and services to both our members and the community.

As a community nexus, we connect researchers with each other and the greater community through networking, learning, and research opportunities. We support community engagement on natural resource management issues and decision-making by providing research and distributing data that promote long-term community sustainability. Our downtown Smithers location serves as a physical presence and meeting place for the local research community.

Additionally, we provide project administration services, acting as a conduit for members to apply for funding and offering administrative and budgeting support to approved projects. We create collaborative opportunities and access funding sources that individual researchers might not have otherwise. We also organize workshops, conferences, a seminar series, and other networking events to create learning and extension opportunities.

Our research initiatives focus on sustainability in the northwest and beyond, including ecosystems, cultures, and communities. We collaborate with various groups involved in natural resource management, such as industry, government, First Nations, academic institutions, and conservation organizations. By providing a single point of contact, we foster engagement and bring diverse perspectives together.
