BVI Trap League Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Lake Lotawana, Missouri, dedicated to safe, organized trap shooting. Founded in the late 1960s, the league has grown to include roughly 20 to 32 teams, each with five shooters. Participants are grouped into four divisions by experience: Ambassadors, Majors, Minors, and Sportsman. Shooters of any skill level are welcome, provided they can handle a shotgun safely.
The league offers three 10-week seasons each year: spring, summer, and fall. Teams shoot on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 p.m. Each session includes two rounds: a 16-yard round and a handicap round, with the latter based on team performance in the first round. Shooters pay $20 per night, while teams pay a $65 sponsor fee per season. BVI Trap League presents cash awards to the top three teams and recognizes individual achievement. Shotgun shells and reloading supplies are available for purchase at the Lake Lotawana Sportsmen’s Club. The organization also provides schedules, scores, bylaws, photos, directions, and league information online.
