BW Elara is an innovative joint venture between BW Offshore and BW Group, specializing in ready-built floating desalination units designed to address urgent water scarcity challenges worldwide. With the capability to deliver 20 million liters of clean drinking water daily, these floating desalination units (FDUs) can be operational within weeks, providing rapid and scalable solutions to municipalities, industries, and regions facing acute water shortages.
The FDUs leverage advanced seawater reverse osmosis technology and can be swiftly deployed to coastal locations, connecting easily to existing infrastructure to produce potable and industrial-grade water. Their plug-and-play design circumvents many complexities usually associated with onshore desalination projects, making them an agile option for sectors such as mining, oil and gas, and emergency relief efforts. BW Elara’s mission is to enhance water security by facilitating fast access to fresh water, crucial for sustainable growth and resilience, particularly in areas impacted by climate change and population growth.
