National Youth Agency
@byc.org.uk
As the national body for youth work in England, the National Youth Agency (NYA) exists to champion its transformative power. We believe all young people should have the opportunity to benefit from the life-changing impact of extraordinary youth workers and trained volunteers. We help to grow youth work provision in ways that keep it effective, relevant, safe and engaging, to help millions of young people reach their potential and thrive. We do this by providing guidance, support, advice, training and staff development opportunities for youth workers and youth work organisations. At the heart of everything we do are young people themselves. We work hard to ensure their voices are integrated into all our work, to develop provision that truly meets their needs.

About National Youth Agency
Youth Council UK (YCUK) is a democratic platform bringing young people and youth organisations together to influence decisions that affect their lives. Co-created with young people aged 16–25 and youth sector experts, it connects more than 200 member organisations and represents over 7.8 million young people across the UK, Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories. Its membership includes grassroots groups and national organisations.
Led by an elected Executive Board of young people, YCUK sets national priorities, develops policy positions, leads campaigns and engages with decision-makers, including government ministers and international bodies. It also helps member organisations connect, share learning, coordinate campaigns and pool resources. Through training, skills development and leadership pathways, the platform supports young people to collaborate and take on leadership roles. YCUK is also working towards an Informal Democratic Education Standards framework to strengthen youth participation practice. Building on the British Youth Council’s 75-year legacy, it aims to ensure young people’s perspectives are meaningfully included in decision-making, with local voices helping shape regional and national conversations.
