Byggcheferna

Byggcheferna is an industry association within Ledarna, Sweden’s organisation for managers, representing leaders across the built-environment sector. It brings together more than 19,000 managers working in construction, installation, property and other areas of samhällsbyggnad, or community development. The association focuses on three priorities: safety, leadership and industry development.

Byggcheferna supports members in their management roles through access to leadership support and legal guidance, and membership includes Byggvärlden Plus at no extra cost. It also offers student membership, an ambassador programme and the opportunity to book speakers. Its activities include the annual Årets Byggchef award and the Lars Bergqvist Scholarship, which recognises people and initiatives that advance equality and diversity in the sector.

The association works to challenge macho culture and promote more inclusive workplaces. Its annual Machoindex report measures perceived macho culture in the built-environment sector, while other reports address topics such as the industry’s readiness for crises and war. Byggcheferna also publishes news and information about its work, governance, history and partnerships.
