Be Your Own Hero (BYOH) is an inclusive martial arts project that welcomes people with and without disabilities, including prosthesis users and people with physical limitations. Its aim is to introduce participants to martial arts in an encouraging, accessible setting, where people of all ages can train with experienced martial arts instructors and enjoy being active together. Guided by the message “Be your own hero,” BYOH combines sport, participation and fun, inviting people to discover their interests and build confidence through training.
The project also takes part in events across Germany. These events are supported by GMC – German MMA Championship, which stages martial arts competitions described by BYOH as exciting, fair and high-level. The website shares information about the project, its founder, events and related news, and provides a contact form for enquiries. BYOH was founded by Yasmin Uygun, a passionate sports enthusiast with a longstanding interest in martial arts.
