About Rwanda Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Rwanda (C4IR Rwanda) is at the forefront of shaping the future of technology governance. As the speed of technological innovation accelerates, there is a pressing need for agile approaches to governing emerging technologies. C4IR Rwanda collaborates with stakeholders worldwide to design and pilot new approaches to technology governance that foster innovation in an inclusive and responsible manner.
Established in 2020 as part of the global network of 16 centres, C4IR Rwanda leverages local knowledge to empower global change. Informed by Rwanda's national development priorities, the Centre focuses on data governance and artificial intelligence and machine learning. C4IR Rwanda's key areas of focus include creating a solid foundation for harnessing the Fourth Industrial Revolution through data governance, and accelerating the societal benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning while ensuring equity, privacy, transparency, accountability, and social impact.
Their approach emphasizes agility, speed, collaboration, and multi-stakeholder input.
