CAASU

Associazione Chernobyl Alto Adige Südtirol ODV is a volunteer organization based in Laives, in Italy’s South Tyrol region. Established in response to the effects of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, it works to support children from Belarus, where radioactive contamination caused serious and lasting hardship. The association promotes and organizes health stays in South Tyrol, bringing children to a cleaner environment and providing varied, nourishing food during their visit.

Local host families help make these stays possible, offering care and a welcoming place to stay. The organization believes that even a few weeks away from contaminated areas can benefit children’s health, with effects that may continue after they return home. Its work also includes initiatives and projects in Belarus, information about its areas of intervention, and resources such as a Russian-language guide.

Through its volunteer network, community outreach, and support from families and sponsors, Associazione Chernobyl Alto Adige Südtirol continues to encourage solidarity and improve the prospects of children affected by the disaster
