C.A.B. (Cooperativa Agrícola de Bombarral) is a Portuguese agricultural cooperative established in 1966, serving growers and customers through two main divisions: buying and selling, and fruit and vegetable production and marketing. Based in Bombarral, the cooperative supplies domestic and international markets, exporting part of its production. Its C.A.B. mark represents its commitment to quality, particularly in Pêra Rocha, its best-known product internationally and a signature fruit of Portugal’s western region.
The cooperative also offers several apple varieties. Pêra Rocha is known for its sweet, juicy white flesh, distinctive brown russeting and ability to keep well and withstand handling and transport. Royal Gala apples have crisp, aromatic, juicy flesh and bright, striped red skin. Fuji apples are especially crisp, sweet and low in acidity, while Reineta Parda is an older variety with russeted skin and a sweet-tart flavour, often used in cooking. Through its agricultural products and market activity, C.A.B. connects local production with consumers at home and abroad.
