Caballeros Custodios de Calatrava

The Order of the Knights Custodians of Calatrava la Vieja is a contemporary cultural and honorary institution inspired by Christian values and the historic Order of Calatrava. Taking the historic site of Calatrava la Vieja as its point of reference, it works to safeguard and share the Order’s historical, spiritual and cultural heritage. Its approach treats custodianship as an active responsibility: preserving the past while interpreting and transmitting its meaning with historical rigor and respect for human dignity.

The institution’s work includes cultural events, lectures, conferences, publications and educational activities that encourage historical understanding and public discussion. Its program has covered the history of military orders, medieval figures and the heritage of Calatrava la Vieja, alongside visits, exhibitions and workshops. It also holds institutional and spiritual activities and undertakes social and humanitarian initiatives, including efforts to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and recognition of people serving their communities. The Order grants distinctions to acknowledge exemplary personal and professional contributions aligned with its principles of faith, honor, service, justice and commitment to the common good.
