by Cable TV Pioneers

Cable TV Pioneers is an organization dedicated to preserving the history and recognizing the people who built the cable television industry. Founded in 1966, when 21 early entrepreneurs met during the NCTA Convention in Miami Beach, the group has grown to nearly 700 members. Its members helped build the systems and multiple system operators that became the foundation of today’s cable television and broadband industry.

The organization celebrates industry leadership and service through its annual banquet and the induction of new classes of Pioneers. Its events bring together influential leaders, innovators, colleagues, and friends to honor professional achievements, reflect on the industry’s legacy, and recognize its continued evolution. The group also provides member resources, including membership information, bylaws, nomination materials, address updates, news, and a directory. Its website features current and past member classes, board information, memorials, and banquet histories.

For more than two decades, Cable TV Pioneers helped establish and fund the Cable Center, and later initiated the Cable Hall of Fame program to further recognize exemplary service to the industry.
